Chapter Six: Within Word Pattern Stage
Description
Children have mastered single syllable words and are proficient in two or three syllable words.
The concepts/features learned throughout this stage are (in increasing order, early to late): blends, common long vowels, other vowels, and inflected endings.
Students in this stage explore the pattern layer of English spelling which focuses on matching phonemes with letter patterns.
